A low 1,325 RPM turn-on threshold means the alternator starts making power early in the rev range, limiting the need for complex pulley schemes or over-throttling the engine at idle.\n\nThe 96-48-60-K6 uses a large-case, positive field excitation design with dual internal cooling fans, sealed heavy-duty bearings and a ventilated cast-aluminium case with a clear-anodised finish. It mounts on a 4 inch dual-foot saddle in the J-180 style and drives a K6 serpentine pulley, handling up to 8 horsepower of power take-off. This version uses a case-ground termination. It runs exclusively with the Balmar MC-620 multi-stage regulator, which requires its own 12-volt supply and cannot be powered from the 48-volt source; the alternator will not operate without it.
