The EV sensor seals against its mounting tray with large and small rings that keep the IPx6-rated installation weathertight on deck; the rings are disturbed whenever the sensor is removed and, like any exposed elastomer, age in sunlight. The EV-1 installation instructions (document 87472, chapter 19) list this pack as the official spare. Renewing the rings during seasonal maintenance keeps water out of the mounting and preserves the sensor's deck seal.
