Choosing between Axiom sizes and tiers
The Axiom range splits mainly by screen size and processing power rather than by fundamentally different capability, and that distinction matters most once you start layering functions rather than looking at any one screen in isolation. More processing headroom shows up in split-screen performance, running sonar, radar and charting together, rather than in what any single view can display on its own. Sonar imaging capability, including RealVision, depends as much on which transducer is connected as on the display itself, so it's worth checking transducer compatibility alongside screen size.
All current Axiom displays network over SeaTalkng, Raymarine's variant of NMEA 2000, so integrating radar, autopilot and instruments is a case of adding the right backbone cable and T-piece rather than rewiring. Where a boat already carries a SeaTalkng or NMEA 2000 spine, a new display usually just joins it.
