Sizing a charger to your battery bank
A charger should be sized to roughly ten to twenty percent of the battery bank's amp hour capacity for a reasonable charge time without overheating smaller banks, and the number of outputs should match the number of isolated banks on board. A single output charger cannot maintain a house bank and an engine start battery independently without a splitter or dedicated bank switching, whereas multi-bank units charge each output separately so one older or smaller battery does not drag down the rest.
Lithium batteries need a charge profile without the equalisation or float voltages used for lead-acid and AGM, so confirm the charger has a dedicated lithium setting rather than relying on an AGM profile that undercharges or overvolts the cells. Temperature compensation matters most for lead-acid banks kept somewhere cold or hot, less so for lithium.
