Balmar
Balmar high-output alternators, smart regulators and charging accessories for serious onboard power.
Getting the most from a high-output alternator
A Balmar alternator is only as good as the regulator controlling it. Fitting a high-output alternator to a standard internal regulator wastes most of its potential, so these are generally paired with one of Balmar's smart regulators to get proper multi-stage charging and to protect a lithium or AGM bank from overcharging.
Case size and mounting footprint vary between models, so check the alternator will physically fit your engine bracket and that the pulley groove count matches your existing belt arrangement before ordering, since a mismatch here is one of the most common fitting problems. Belt load also increases with output, so a serpentine or dual belt setup is worth checking on higher-output models.
Temperature sensing on both the alternator and the battery bank is worth adding at the same time as a smart regulator, since charging without it relies on generic assumptions rather than the actual state of your system.
