Description

The VMHU lifts the wind sensor above the disturbed air that swirls around the top of the sails, on a vertical carbon spar rather than the conventional horizontal arm. The result is cleaner data, easier calibration and noticeably better steer-to-wind performance from the autopilot, because the pilot is no longer chasing turbulence.

This is the 1.45 m unit in Ocean specification - the stiffened variant, built for the loads and vibration of extreme offshore and record-attempt sailing. It uses a high-modulus carbon spar for stiffness without weight aloft, is sealed to IP66, and forms part of the H5000 sensor and instrument family.
