Marine Radar Radomes - Compact Enclosed Radar Scanners

Compact radar radomes (enclosed radar scanners) for boats and yachts. Our radome collection features dome radars from Simrad, Raymarine, Garmin, and Furuno:

  • Broadband Radomes - Solid-state radar with instant-on technology
  • Pulse Compression Radomes - HALO, Quantum, and Fantom radar
  • Traditional Magnetron Radomes - Proven radar technology
  • 18-inch to 24-inch Radomes - Various sizes for different vessels

Radomes provide excellent radar performance in a compact, lightweight package perfect for smaller vessels and sailboats. All radomes integrate with chartplotters for radar overlay.

Complete Radar System: Part of our Radar collection. Compare with open array radars for longer range. Mount with radar mounts from Seaview or Scanstrut. Install with radar cables. Integrate with chartplotters.

Radome or open array for your boat

A radome suits most sail and smaller power boats simply because of size and weight: the enclosed dome sits well up a mast or on a simple pole mount without adding significant windage or top weight, which matters on a sailing yacht. Open array antennas give a narrower beam width and longer range for the same power, but the length of the scanner and its weight aloft generally rules them out on smaller vessels and anything with limited mast strength.

Within the radome category, solid state broadband or pulse compression units switch on instantly and can operate safely at closer range than magnetron radar, which needs a warm up period and has a minimum safe operating distance. Magnetron radomes remain a straightforward, well proven option where instant on capability is not a priority. Whichever type you choose, mount it clear of the mast, rigging and any crew areas it will sweep at head height, and keep the run back to the display within the cable length the system supports.
