What an open array mount needs to support
An open array scanner puts considerably more load on its mount than a radome of similar range, both from its own weight and from wind resistance across a much longer sweeping antenna, so the mast, pole or arch it sits on has to be rated for that load rather than just for the scanner's weight at rest. Seaview's open array mounts are built around this loading rather than around radome scale hardware, which is the main reason a mount cannot simply be swapped between the two scanner types.
Height above deck affects both range and safety, since the beam needs to clear crew areas at head height while sweeping, and a taller mount generally improves radar performance at the cost of more top weight and a longer cable run back to the scanner unit. Check the cable length the mount and radar combination will need before ordering, since routing from a mast top or arch top position is rarely a short, straight run.
