Garmin
Hudson Marine is an authorised Garmin dealer. We stock GPSMAP and ECHOMAP multifunction displays, plus radar, sonar, Force trolling motors, VHF, and the Marine Network and NMEA 2000 kit to join them, with expert advice and support from our workshop at Mercury Yacht Harbour, Hamble.
Choosing across the Garmin range
Garmin's marine line splits broadly by hull type and mission: GPSMAP and ECHOMAP series for cruising and fishing, chartplotter and sonar combinations with ClearVu and SideVu scanning imaging, and Force trolling motors and autopilot heads for control on smaller craft. Choosing between tiers usually comes down to screen size, processor speed for chart redraw, and how many sonar channels you need running at once, whether that is traditional CHIRP, ClearVu, or Panoptix and LiveScope where fitted.
Networking matters as much as the display itself. Garmin's own Marine Network, an Ethernet backbone, carries high-bandwidth sonar and radar data, while standard NMEA 2000 carries instrument and engine data; a full system typically uses both, joined at the multifunction display.
If you are upgrading rather than building from new, check what backbone your existing instruments already use before ordering. Mixing generations of Garmin hardware, or bringing in third-party sensors, is usually where compatibility questions arise. Get in touch if you would like a hand mapping the pieces together before you order.
