B&G NMEA 2000
B&G is the sailor's brand, engineered around sailing-specific navigation and instruments. This is the B&G nmea 2000 range: plug-and-play backbone, drops and devices for a NMEA 2000 network.

B&G's NMEA 2000 devices, wind, speed, depth and autopilot sensors among them, share data across the same backbone as any other manufacturer's network, since the protocol is an open standard rather than a proprietary B&G format. That is what lets a masthead wind sensor feed both a B&G display and a chartplotter from a different brand at the helm without a separate cable run for each.
A sailing instrument network tends to carry more traffic than a simple powerboat setup, with wind angle, boat speed and heel data all updating rapidly, so backbone quality and connector security matter more than on a lighter network; a loose T-connector at the mast base is a common source of intermittent wind data.
Where an older B&G SailSteer or Triton network already exists, check whether it is genuine NMEA 2000 or an earlier proprietary bus before adding new devices, since the two are not always interchangeable without a bridging cable.
