How Maretron's N2K range fits together
Maretron's product range splits into three broad jobs: the DSM displays that show data at the helm, the sensors that generate it (tank, temperature, pressure, current and fluid level), and the gateways that move it between networks or into other systems such as chartplotters and PCs. A network built from these three groups only needs a proper NMEA 2000 backbone; drops, T-pieces and terminators from Maretron or another N2K brand will interoperate, since the protocol is an open standard.
Where Maretron adds value over a generic sensor is calibration and alarm handling: tank senders can be configured for irregular tank shapes, and the DSM displays can raise alarms directly from sensor thresholds rather than relying on a chartplotter to interpret raw data. Digital switching modules extend the same network to control lighting, pumps and other DC circuits from the same displays.
