Bus Bars/Power Distribution

Marine Bus Bars & Power Distribution Blocks

Centralized power distribution with professional marine bus bars and distribution blocks. Our collection features positive and negative bus bars for organizing electrical connections safely and efficiently.

Bus bars provide a central connection point for multiple electrical circuits, reducing wiring complexity and improving reliability. Essential for professional marine electrical installations meeting ABYC standards.

DC Distribution: Part of our DC Distribution collection. Use with circuit breakers, fuses, and switch panels. Connect batteries with marine cable and battery terminals. Modern alternative: digital switching systems.

Sizing and wiring a bus bar correctly

A bus bar is only as good as the connections made to it. Match the bar's stud size and current rating to the largest cable you are landing on it, and crimp lugs rather than relying on bare wire under a screw terminal; a loose or undersized lug is one of the more common causes of a warm bus bar. ABYC practice colours positive bars red or uncoloured and negative bars black or yellow, worth following even on a boat wired to no particular standard, since it makes fault finding far easier later.

Every circuit off a positive bus bar still needs its own fuse or breaker sized to the cable feeding it, not to the bar itself. Pair the bar with marine grade tinned cable and terminals rather than automotive equivalents, since standard copper corrodes faster in a damp bilge or engine bay.
