Inverters
Marine Inverters - Pure Sine Wave AC Power for Boats
Professional marine inverters converting DC battery power to AC for appliances and electronics. Our inverters collection features pure sine wave inverters from Victron Energy and Mastervolt:
- Pure Sine Wave Inverters - Clean AC power for sensitive electronics
- Modified Sine Wave Inverters - Economical power for basic appliances
- Compact Inverters - Space-saving designs for smaller boats
- High-Power Inverters - 3000W+ for air conditioning and heavy loads
Pure sine wave inverters provide clean, stable AC power identical to shore power, essential for laptops, TVs, and sensitive electronics. All inverters feature overload protection and low-voltage disconnect.
Complete Power System: Part of our Power Management collection. Power from AGM or lithium batteries. Combine with chargers or upgrade to inverter/chargers. Monitor with battery monitors. Connect with marine cable.
Sizing an inverter to the load
The main decision is continuous wattage against surge, since a microwave, kettle or induction hob draws several times its rated power for the first second or two on start-up, and an inverter sized only to the running load will trip or shut down under that spike. Add up what might realistically run at the same time rather than the single biggest item on its own.
Battery bank capacity has to be sized to match, both in amp-hours and in the cable and fuse rating between bank and inverter; DC current at 12V for a given AC load is roughly double what it is at 24V, which is one reason larger systems tend to move to 24V. Cable runs should be kept as short as practical, with the fuse or breaker rated to the cable rather than the inverter's maximum draw.
Ventilation and mounting location matter more than they are usually given credit for, since inverters derate their output as they heat up in a poorly ventilated locker. Ask us if you want help sizing one against your actual load list.
