Transducers for Axiom 2 Pro RVM
Every transducer compatible with Raymarine Axiom 2 Pro RVM chartplotters, from the official Axiom 2 Pro installation instructions (87443 Rev 6, sections 4.1 and 4.2). RealVision MAX 3D and RealVision 3D transducers connect directly to the 25-pin RV/RVM socket; SideVision, DownVision and CPT-S transducers use adapter cable A80490; CHIRP and traditional transducers up to 1 kW use the 11-pin socket, with traditional models via adapter cable A80496.
Checking Axiom 2 Pro RVM compatibility
Picking a transducer for the Axiom 2 Pro RVM comes down to hull material and mounting position as much as which socket it plugs into. Thru-hull transducers, favoured on GRP and metal hulls with enough deadrise to accept the correct angle, generally give cleaner readings at speed than transom-mount alternatives, but require a hull cut and are harder to retrofit on a boat already in the water. In-hull transducers avoid any hull penetration and suit solid GRP layups, though they lose some signal strength and cannot support the newer imaging modes.
Deadrise angle at the mounting point needs matching to the transducer's own housing angle, or a fairing block is needed to correct it; getting this wrong is one of the most common causes of a noisy or angled sonar picture. Depth capability and image detail also vary between transducer families, so it's worth matching capability to how you actually intend to use the sonar rather than buying the highest spec by default.
