The Scanstrut DS16 Mini is a vertical entry cable seal for a single cable of 2-8mm, with a 16mm opening that passes connectors of up to 16mm. Moulded in grey high-impact plastic, it carries instrument, network and display leads through a deck or bulkhead and seals the entry to IP68 watertight. You install it without removing the connector, and no sealant is needed.

Description

The Scanstrut DS16 Mini steps up from the Micro to seal a single cable of 2-8mm, and its 16mm opening lets connectors of up to 16mm pass through, covering much of the everyday marine electronics wiring such as NMEA network drops, transducer leads and display cables. It is the world's number one choice for getting these runs below decks neatly.

The grey low-profile dome is moulded in ultra-strong impact-resistant plastic, and the pre-drilled, blank and split bungs included let a single seal adapt to cable diameters across its 2-8mm range. Captive nuts give fast, repeatable assembly.

Crucially you fit it without removing the cable connector and apply no sealant to the bungs, so a reliable IP68 waterproof entry goes in quickly and cleanly.

Can this cable seal be installed below the waterline?
No, these seals are designed to be installed above the waterline.
What's the best way to drill a blank bung?
Before drilling holes, freeze the blank seal in a freezer, this makes it very easy to accurately and neatly drill the hole. For best fit around cables drill a hole Ø1-2mm larger than the cable diameter. When drilling into a frozen blank seal this hole will look far too big but when the seal defrosts, it will be a good tight fit.
