Pairing a wearable with your other kit

A dive computer or fitness watch and a genuinely marine wearable are different products, even though they look similar on the wrist. The ones worth considering for boating link back to a chartplotter or autopilot over Bluetooth or a proprietary wireless link, so you get course, depth or man overboard alerts on your wrist rather than having to glance at the helm display.

Battery life and water rating matter more here than screen resolution. Check the IPX or ATM rating against how the watch will actually be used, whether that is spray on deck, full submersion, or diving depths, and confirm it charges from a source you will realistically have on board, such as USB or a dock.

Compatibility is the other thing to check before ordering: a wearable built around one chartplotter brand's ecosystem will rarely talk to another maker's network in any useful way, so match it to the multifunction display already fitted, not the other way round.
