Choosing a Furuno radar type
The main decision with Furuno radar is dome or open array. A radome suits most leisure boats, is self-contained, and gives good performance at typical leisure ranges, while an open array antenna delivers a narrower beam width and better target separation at long range, mattering more to commercial and serious offshore users than coastal cruisers. Both integrate with the NavNet TZtouch range over the same Ethernet backbone as charts and sonar.
DFF sonar modules add CHIRP fish finding to a NavNet display without needing a separate standalone unit, and the module choice depends on the transducer already fitted or planned, since frequency range and power output vary across the DFF line. Autopilots and sensors here are built to talk to the same NavNet network, so a course computer or rudder reference bought here should integrate directly rather than needing an interface.
Check your existing NavNet generation before adding a new radar or sonar module, since not every combination is backward compatible.
