Description

The Quick BT DC-AC 300-300 is a DC-AC bow thruster: it runs from a battery DC supply (24/48V) and drives a three-phase motor through its own controller. It delivers 300 kgf of thrust from a 15 kW motor in a 300 mm tunnel, with twin counter-rotating propellers.

Quick describes the DC-AC range as having no carbon brushes, low power consumption, silent operation, proportional control as standard, unlimited runtime and easy installation (quickitaly.com). A 12V version with booster is available for some models.

This is the AJ1 version: the AJ1 is the Quick thruster command with proportional system (controls not included). Quick lists a line contactor and line switch as accessories, to prevent involuntary propeller activation.

Nylon-propeller version (the standard BT DC-AC 300-300 has NiBrAl propellers).

What is a DC-AC thruster?
It runs from the boat's DC battery supply but drives a three-phase motor through an integrated controller, so it has no carbon brushes and, per Quick, low power consumption and unlimited runtime.
What control does it use?
This version is the AJ1 version. Quick's manual recommends the AJ1 thruster command with proportional system, an AJ1 extension, a controller cable and a line contactor as accessories (not included).
What tunnel does it need?
A 300 mm diameter tunnel (separate item).
Can I run the thruster continuously?
No. Quick's manual states the thruster is not designed for continuous use. It has built-in protections that limit its running time (see the control panel manual), and Quick states these protections must not be bypassed or modified, as doing so voids the warranty. Do not run the thruster out of the water for more than 10 seconds.
Is installation DIY-friendly?
Quick recommends that the tunnel and thruster are installed by competent, skilled personnel, and the installer bears responsibility for any problems caused by defective installation. The installation and user manual (linked in Downloads) covers the tunnel, gearleg and wiring.
