Description

The Quick BTR QSY 185-100 is a 24V retractable bow thruster with twin counter-rotating propellers and a 8 kW synchronous (QSY) motor, giving 100 kgf of thrust in a 185 mm diameter tunnel. This is the ON/OFF version.

Quick's QSY thrusters use a synchronous motor ('QSY - Quick Synchronous Motor'), which allows an extended duty rating in standard environmental conditions of up to 10 minutes continuous operation (quickitaly.com).

The retractable BTR QSY has a counter flange that is sold separately and can be supplied in composite, aluminium or steel; the motor is mounted to the structure inside the keel, and a single moving body crosses the in-out barrier. Quick describes high-quality materials (NiBrAl and AISI316) and high galvanic protection through sacrificial anodes (quickitaly.com).

What does QSY mean?
QSY stands for Quick Synchronous Motor. Quick states QSY thrusters have an extended duty rating in standard environmental conditions, reaching 10 minutes of continuous operation.
What voltage and fuse does it need?
24V DC; Quick's manual recommends a 175 A CNL DIN fuse.
Proportional or ON/OFF?
This listing is the ON/OFF version.
Can I run the thruster continuously?
No. Quick's manual states the thruster is not designed for continuous use. It has built-in protections that limit its running time (see the control panel manual), and Quick states these protections must not be bypassed or modified, as doing so voids the warranty. Do not run the thruster out of the water for more than 10 seconds.
Is installation DIY-friendly?
Quick recommends that the tunnel and thruster are installed by competent, skilled personnel, and the installer bears responsibility for any problems caused by defective installation. The installation and user manual (linked in Downloads) covers the tunnel, gearleg and wiring.
