Description
The Balmar ARS-5 is a multi-stage voltage regulator that provides precise charging control for Balmar high-output 12-volt alternators and other externally regulated P-type (positive field) alternators. It sits in the middle of the Balmar regulator range, delivering the core benefits of smart, multi-stage regulation, faster and more complete charging, better battery life and reduced alternator wear, at an accessible price. User-selectable programs are provided for deep cycle flooded, gel, AGM and spiral wound (Optima) batteries, along with a universal default program that is safe for most battery types.
In addition to its preset battery programs, the ARS-5 includes a range of advanced programming modes so charging can be tailored to a wide variety of installations and battery banks, all set through the supplied magnetic programming tool. When used with the optional MC-TS-A alternator and MC-TS-B battery temperature sensors, the regulator monitors ambient temperature and reduces or discontinues charging voltages should a catastrophic over-temperature condition occur at the alternator or the batteries. This version is supplied complete with the 54 inch wiring harness for a straightforward installation.

What battery types does the ARS-5 support?
The ARS-5 has user-selectable programs for deep cycle flooded, gel, AGM and spiral wound (Optima) batteries, plus a universal default program that is safe for most battery types. For a Carbon Foam or LiFePO4 profile, step up to the Max Charge MC-618.
Does the ARS-5-H come with a wiring harness?
Yes. The -H version is supplied with a 54 inch wiring harness and the magnetic programming tool. A box marked ARS-5 without the H designation does not include the harness.
What alternators is the ARS-5 designed for?
The ARS-5 is a 12-volt regulator for Balmar high-output alternators and other externally regulated P-type (positive field) alternators. It is not intended for N-type or internally regulated alternators.
