Description

The Simarine STR1 is an analogue radar tank level sender. A micro-radar mounted on top of the tank measures the liquid level from outside, so nothing touches the water or fuel and there are no floats or moving parts to stick or wear. It reads through flat plastic or fibreglass tank tops up to 10 mm thick and covers tank heights from 150 mm to 2000 mm with ±2% accuracy. Metal tanks can be measured with the STR tank adapter, sold separately.

The STR1 outputs three analogue signals at the same time: 0 to 190 Ω, 240 to 30 Ω and 0 to 5 V DC. That means one sender can feed up to three different gauges or monitoring systems, including standard European and US resistive gauges and voltage-input displays. Simarine documents connecting it to the SC303 and SC503 combo shunts and the ST107 tank module, so it works with the PICO battery monitor. The wires are colour coded: green for 0 to 5 V, white for 0 to 190 Ω, yellow for 240 to 30 Ω and blue as common.

Setup and calibration are done over Bluetooth in the Simarine Connect app for iOS and Android, where you can also read the level directly on your phone. The sender runs on 8 to 35 V DC, works from -20 to 70 °C and is sealed to IP67. Simarine makes the STR1 in Slovenia and covers it with a 3-year warranty.

Can the STR1 work with my existing tank gauge?
Yes, if the gauge uses 0 to 190 Ω, 240 to 30 Ω or 0 to 5 V. All three outputs are active at once.
Does it work with the Simarine PICO?
Yes. Simarine documents connecting the STR1 to the SC303 and SC503 shunts and the ST107 tank module, which feed the PICO.
Can it measure a metal tank?
Not directly, as radar cannot pass through metal. Use the Simarine STR tank adapter on an S5 flange opening.
What is the difference between STR1 and STR2?
The STR1 has analogue resistive and voltage outputs. The STR2 outputs NMEA 2000 instead.
How is it calibrated?
Over Bluetooth in the Simarine Connect app.
What warranty does it have?
Simarine products carry a 3-year warranty from the date of purchase.
