Marine AIS & VHF Communication Systems
Stay safe and connected on the water with our comprehensive range of AIS and VHF marine communication equipment. Essential safety equipment for all vessels:
- AIS Receivers - Track nearby vessels and avoid collisions
- AIS Transceivers - Transmit and receive vessel position data
- AIS/VHF Combination Units - Integrated communication solutions
- Fixed VHF Radios - DSC-enabled marine radios by Icom and leading brands
- Handheld VHF Radios - Portable waterproof communication
- VHF/AIS Antennas - High-gain antennas by Glomex
- Antenna Splitters - Share antennas between multiple devices
- Cables & Accessories - Complete installation solutions
System Integration: Integrate AIS data with Simrad, Raymarine, Garmin, or Furuno chartplotters. Mount antennas with Seaview or Scanstrut platforms. Connect via Actisense NMEA networking.
Choosing between AIS receive and transmit
An AIS receiver shows you other vessels but says nothing about your own boat, whereas a Class B transceiver broadcasts your position, heading and speed so ships and other leisure boats can see you too. Class A units, required for larger commercial vessels, transmit at higher power and update more frequently; most private boats are better served by Class B SO or CS. Before ordering a transceiver you will need an MMSI number from Ofcom, entered once and left alone, since it identifies your vessel in any DSC distress call.
Fixed VHF sets and AIS often share a single antenna through a splitter, which is simpler to install but adds a small insertion loss compared with two dedicated runs. Handheld VHFs are a useful backup if the fixed set loses power, and both should be checked against the IPX rating quoted for the model rather than assumed. Get in touch if you are unsure whether your existing antenna and cabling will support a new transceiver.
