What the Atmos case protects against
The Atmos range is built around keeping a tablet or handheld device usable in conditions that would otherwise put it away in a locker: spray, rain and the UV exposure that degrades plastic and screen coatings over a season left at the helm. Touchscreen sensitivity through the case is worth checking against the device you actually intend to use, since not every case and screen protector combination responds equally well to a wet finger or sailing gloves.
Mounting is generally to a RAM ball or Scanstrut's own fitting, so decide on a fixed or quick-release mount depending on whether the tablet is carried on and off the boat or left permanently at the helm. Pairing a case with a dedicated mounting arm rather than improvising with an existing bracket keeps the device properly supported in a seaway, which matters more for a tablet running chartplotting software than for a device that only needs to survive being glanced at occasionally.
