Picking the right chart format
The names above cover different ecosystems, and the main decision is which multifunction display you already have on board, since chart cards are not interchangeable between brands. A C-MAP card will not read in a Garmin unit, and Navionics comes in variants tuned for Lowrance, Simrad, B&G or Garmin hardware, so check the exact chartplotter model before ordering.
Coverage area matters as much as brand. Charts are usually sold by region, so a UK and Ireland card will not extend to French or Spanish waters without a separate purchase or a wider pack. If you cruise across a boundary, check the coverage map rather than assuming a card covers all of Europe.
Card format also varies: microSD, SD and older proprietary formats are not interchangeable, and some plotters need an adaptor to accept a smaller card. If you are unsure which format your display takes, get in touch and we can check compatibility before you buy.
