Picking the right Iris camera type
Dome cameras suit engine rooms, cabins and other areas where a discreet, fixed field of view is enough, while bullet cameras work well aimed at a specific area such as an anchor windlass or swim platform. A pan-tilt-zoom dome is worth the extra cost where you need to actively check different parts of the vessel from one camera rather than fitting several fixed units.
Photon 4K models are built for genuinely low light, useful for anchor watch or night docking, whereas the standard daylight range is better suited to well-lit areas and gives a sharper image in normal conditions. Integration depends on your display: Raymarine, Navico and Furuno units take the video feed directly, Garmin needs the IrisControl app, so confirm your MFD generation supports the camera before ordering.
