JBL Marine

JBL has shaped how people hear music for more than 80 years, and its marine audio range brings that JBL sound out onto the water. The line-up covers marine speakers and subwoofers, amplifiers and source units, engineered with marine-grade materials and components to stand up to sun, salt and sea spray. Every marine speaker goes through HARMAN reliability testing, with intense salt-spray and UV tests added on top of JBL's usual heat, cold, vibration and full-power trials.

Choosing marine audio for your boat

Marine speakers are built for the outdoors and to withstand salt, water and temperature changes, but they are not fully waterproof and should never be submerged. JBL's Stage Marine speakers, for example, carry an IPX5 rating and use grille-mounted tweeters so the front of the woofer cone can be sealed against sea spray.

When choosing speakers, check that their size suits the space on your boat and that your system has enough power to drive them, or pick a model that draws less. Your receiver and any equipment not designed for water should be protected from water, sun, corrosion and salt build-up.

Marine wiring differs from home or car installs because there is rarely a metal surface to ground to. Run cables to the battery's negative terminal and keep the ground wire the same length as the power wire.
