What Kicker adds to a marine system
Kicker's marine subwoofers are built around the same high output approach the brand is known for on land, adapted with corrosion resistant hardware and UV stable materials for life on the water. Power handling tends to run higher than many marine specific subwoofer ranges, so matching amplifier output to the driver's rating is worth checking carefully rather than assuming any marine amp will do it justice.
Enclosure choice affects the low end output as much as the driver itself, and a sealed box generally gives tighter bass suited to a smaller cabin while a ported enclosure produces more output at the cost of a larger footprint, so think about where the sub is actually going before settling on a box.
Speaker cable gauge and a properly fused feed from the amplifier both matter over the sort of cable runs typical on a boat, where distances and damp conditions are less forgiving than a car install.
