Finding the right replacement instrument part

Lowrance sailing and engine instruments have gone through several generations of sensor and connector, so the model printed on the back of the display or sender is a more reliable way to identify a spare than the boat's age. Some older instruments use a proprietary bus rather than NMEA 2000, and a replacement sensor built for the newer network will not plug straight into an older display without an adapter.

Paddlewheel speed sensors and wind sensors are the parts most commonly replaced, usually due to a seized bearing or corroded connector rather than electronic failure, so it is worth checking the sensor itself before assuming the display has failed. If you are trying to identify a part from an instrument that no longer has visible markings, send us a photo of the connector and we can usually match it from that.
