Comparing tiers and networking options

Lowrance splits its multifunction displays broadly by processing power and connectivity rather than just screen size, so it's worth thinking about how the display will be used before comparing panels side by side. Higher tier units generally carry more capacity for split-screen sonar, radar and chart views running together, which shows up mainly once you start layering functions rather than on a single full-screen view. Screen size affects readability at the helm but says little on its own about what a unit can drive simultaneously.

Networking runs over NMEA 2000 for instrument and engine data and Ethernet between displays for sharing sonar and radar across a multi-station helm; mixing the two properly on a boat with more than one screen is where most installation questions come from. Chart coverage for Lowrance plotters uses C-MAP data, sold separately from the hardware and specific to the cruising area.

If you're fitting more than one display and need them networked together, we can talk through the cabling before you order.
