How Masterbus ties a system together
Masterbus is Mastervolt's own network for linking chargers, inverters, battery monitors and generator control into one system that can be monitored and managed from a single panel. It runs on its own cabling and connectors rather than NMEA 2000, so a Masterbus device won't simply plug into an existing marine network without a gateway between the two.
Because the network carries control signals as well as monitoring data, planning the topology matters: devices typically connect via a shared backbone with drop cables to each unit, similar in principle to other marine networking standards but not physically interchangeable with them. Termination at both ends of the backbone is needed for the network to read correctly.
