Oceanic Systems
Oceanic Systems NMEA 2000 vessel monitoring: senders, gauges and interfaces for tanks, engines and onboard power.
Matching senders to your existing gauges
Oceanic Systems components are designed to feed accurate tank, engine and power data onto an NMEA 2000 backbone, but the sender at the tank or engine end still has to suit what is actually fitted. Fuel and water tank senders vary by resistance range and thread size, so measure the existing sender or the tank aperture before ordering a replacement rather than assuming a like-for-like fit.
Engine interfaces translate signals from the engine's own sensors, whether analogue gauges or a J1939 network on newer diesels, into NMEA 2000 messages that any compatible display can read. This is usually the more involved part of an installation, since it means identifying which parameters the engine actually exposes before wiring in an interface.
Once senders and interfaces are on the network, any NMEA 2000 compatible display, gauge or chartplotter can show the data, so there is no need to keep dedicated single-purpose gauges once the backbone is in place.
