Fitting flexible solar without cracking cells

CIGS flexible panels are built to bend to a coachroof or curved deck camber that a rigid framed panel could not follow, but they still have limits on minimum bend radius, and forcing one tighter than specified risks cracking the cells even though the surface looks intact. Bonding is usually done with a compatible flexible adhesive or double-sided tape rather than screws, so surface preparation and adhesive choice matter as much as the panel itself for long-term adhesion in sun and salt spray.

Because these panels flex with the deck, cable strain relief at the junction box needs particular attention; movement over time can fatigue a poorly supported cable long before the panel itself fails. Match the panel's output to an MPPT controller sized for its voltage and current rather than a basic PWM controller, since MPPT recovers meaningfully more usable power from a partially shaded or angled flexible panel than PWM does.
