Finding the right Raymarine spare
Raymarine's instrument line has spanned several generations, from the older ST and i-series analogue displays through to current digital instruments networked over SeaTalkng and NMEA 2000, and spares are generally specific to one generation rather than interchangeable across the range. Before ordering a replacement display, pod or sender, check the model number on the back of the existing unit rather than assuming from the label on the front, as similar looking units have used different connectors over the years.
Wind, speed and depth senders are usually the parts that fail first, since they sit exposed on deck or in the hull, while displays and pods tend to last far longer if kept dry. If you are replacing a sender on an older network, it is worth checking whether the rest of the system is SeaTalk1, SeaTalkng or NMEA 2000, since that determines which interface or converter you will also need to complete the job.
