What really separates these models
Within the Raymarine range, a sonar plotter combo is largely the same Axiom display hardware covered elsewhere in the catalogue, so the real decision is less about the display and more about which transducer socket it carries and what that lets you connect. Different socket types on Raymarine units support different transducer families, some built for RealVision imaging and others for CHIRP and traditional transducers, so it's worth checking your intended transducer against a specific model's connector before ordering.
Because sonar and chartplotter functions share one processor, running detailed sonar imaging, radar and a full chart screen simultaneously draws more on the unit's processing than chart plotting alone, which is worth bearing in mind on a smaller screen size. Networking follows the same SeaTalkng backbone as the rest of the Axiom range, so a sonar plotter added to an existing Raymarine helm generally shares data with autopilot and radar already fitted.
