Picking a Raymarine transducer and mount
The right transducer depends more on the hull than the display it is feeding. Transom mounts suit planing hulls with modest deadrise; thru-hull transducers, either flat or angled to match the hull's deadrise, are needed on deeper vee hulls and most sailing yachts where the transom sits clear of the water at speed. In-hull transducers, glued to the inside of a solid GRP hull, avoid any hull penetration but only work on solid laminate and lose some sensitivity through the material.
CHIRP transducers cover a frequency range rather than a single frequency, giving better target separation and clearer bottom detail on compatible sonar modules, but they need a display or black box that supports CHIRP processing to get the benefit; pairing one with an older fixed-frequency sounder module does not add CHIRP performance on its own. Connector type also matters, since Raymarine has used several plug styles across its display ranges, so check the transducer's connector against your display before ordering.
We can help confirm which transducer suits a particular hull and display combination.
