Wired or wireless: which remote to pick
Bluetooth remotes suit an open helm where running a cable is impractical, but they pair to one head unit at a time and need a clear line back to the receiver, which matters on a flybridge or with a hardtop in the way. Wired remote controls are more reliable in a busy RF environment and can be mounted at a second station without any pairing step at all.
Check which protocol your head unit expects, since Fusion and Kicker remotes are not interchangeable, and a remote built for one system will not control the other even if the connector happens to look similar. Cable length and routing also need thought on a wired install, particularly where the run crosses a bulkhead or bilge area exposed to damp.
Mounting hardware is worth checking separately from the remote itself, since flush and surface mount kits differ in cutout size and depth behind the panel.
