Choosing a pod and cable glands
Choosing between a pre-cut and a blank Scanpod comes down to whether your display matches a standard cut-out. Pre-cut pods are machined for specific chartplotter models and give a snug factory-style fit with no cutting required, but only cover the display shapes Scanstrut has tooled for; anything outside that list, or a mixed bank of displays, generally needs a blank pod cut to size instead. Arm mounts suit helms where the display needs to tilt or swing for glare and visibility, while deck pods sit fixed and flush for a cleaner line.
Whichever pod you choose, cable entry still needs sealing separately: pods are supplied without glands fitted as standard, so plan for the right size and number of cable glands for however many data and power cables are running into it. Getting the gland count and size right at the planning stage avoids drilling extra holes into a finished pod later.
