Tracking down a Simrad spare part

Simrad's instrument range has changed connector and networking standard more than once, moving from older SimNet wiring through to NMEA 2000 on current displays, so a spare bought by model name alone can still turn out to be the wrong generation. Check the part number printed on the back of the unit, or the connector style, before ordering a replacement display, pod or sender, since two units that look identical from the front can use different backshells.

Senders exposed to the elements, such as wind and speed transducers, are usually the first parts to need replacing, while helm displays tend to fail less often if kept dry and out of direct sun where possible.
