AIS and VHF as one system, not two
Vesper's transceivers send and receive AIS on Class B, giving your own position and identity out to other vessels and chartplotters as well as showing theirs, which is a step up from a receive-only unit that only shows traffic without transmitting your own. DSC alerts route through the same unit using your registered MMSI, so a distress call and AIS reporting share one radio rather than sitting on separate boxes.
WiFi connectivity is a feature that sets Vesper apart from most competing transceivers: the unit's own app on a phone or tablet shows AIS traffic, anchor watch and alarms without needing a chartplotter in the loop at all, which is useful as a backup or for a smaller boat without a full navigation suite.
