A Vesscomm unit reports back over a mobile network connection, so coverage at the mooring or marina matters as much as the sensors themselves; check signal strength in the area the boat is kept before relying on it for remote alerts. Sensors typically cover bilge water, battery voltage and shore power or AC status, each triggering a separate alert rather than one generic warning, which makes it easier to tell what has actually gone wrong when a notification arrives.

Installation draws a small standing current from the house battery to keep the unit powered and connected while the boat is unattended, so it is worth checking that battery capacity and any solar or shore charging can support this over the periods the boat is left. Alerts are delivered through an app, so confirm the SIM and data plan are active before depending on it over winter lay-up.
