Specifying a Mastervolt inverter charger

An inverter charger does two jobs in one box: it charges the battery bank from shore power or a generator, and inverts stored battery power back to mains voltage when away from the dock. Sizing one correctly means looking at both directions separately, the continuous and surge load of everything you intend to run on inverter power, and the charge current the battery bank can actually accept without overheating, since these are not the same figure. Mismatching either to a battery bank shortens its working life regardless of how well the unit itself is built.

Mastervolt units generally integrate with the wider Masterbus network, which lets battery state, charging status and inverter load be monitored from a single panel rather than checked at the unit itself. Confirm your battery chemistry, whether AGM, gel or lithium, against the charge profile the unit supports before installing, since not every profile suits every battery type.
