Building a TILE panel that fits your helm

TILE modules snap together into a single flush mounted panel, so the main planning decision is working out the mix of AC outlets, USB, wireless charging and 12V sockets you actually need before cutting the mounting hole, since changing the configuration later usually means a different panel size. Sketching out what needs charging at the helm, from phones to handheld electronics, makes that decision easier than guessing.

Each module draws power independently, so total current draw across the finished panel needs checking against the circuit and fuse feeding it, particularly if AC outlets are included alongside the 12V and USB modules, since AC wiring on a boat carries its own safety requirements around isolation and RCD protection.

The IPX6 rating covers spray and splash rather than submersion, so panel position still matters even with a waterproof rated module.
