Reliable wireless charging afloat
Qi wireless charging is sensitive to the gap between coils, so a thick phone case, a magnetic ring holder or a case with a card pocket on the back can all stop a ROKK pad charging even though the phone appears to be sitting correctly on it. Removing the case, or fitting a thin marine-specific case, solves most charging problems.
Charge speed depends on the pad's rated output and the phone's own maximum input, so a 10W pad will not charge every phone at 10W; older or lower-power phones simply charge more slowly rather than faster. Mounting position matters too: a wireless pad at the helm should sit somewhere free of constant vibration and spray, since repeated knocks can nudge a phone off centre and interrupt charging.
Feed the charger from a fused 12V supply sized to its rated draw, and route the cable away from other electronics if it shares a panel with sensitive instruments.
