Fuses

Marine Fuses - Blade, Glass & ANL Fuses

Professional marine fuses for electrical overcurrent protection. Our collection features blade fuses, glass fuses, ANL fuses, and MEGA fuses designed for marine DC electrical systems.

Fuses provide essential overcurrent protection for wiring and equipment, preventing electrical fires and equipment damage. All fuses meet ABYC standards for marine electrical installations.

Electrical Protection: Part of our DC Distribution collection. Use with fuse holders, bus bars, and switch panels. Compare with circuit breakers for resettable protection. Essential for protecting batteries, inverters, and all electrical circuits.

Picking the correct fuse type and rating

Fuse type is dictated largely by current: blade fuses cover most low-current circuits up to around 30A, glass fuses suit older or lower-power equipment, and ANL or MEGA fuses handle the high-current feeds from battery banks to inverters, windlasses and bow thrusters where a blade fuse simply is not rated for the load. The fuse protects the cable, not the device at the end of it, so its rating should be chosen against the cable's ampacity rather than the equipment's typical draw.

Response speed matters too: a standard fast-blow fuse trips almost instantly on overload, while a slow-blow or time-delay type tolerates the brief inrush current from a motor or pump starting without nuisance tripping. ABYC guidance calls for the fuse to sit as close to the battery or power source as practical, generally within a few inches of the connection, so cable runs are protected along their whole length rather than just at the load end.
