Choosing the right Scanstrut power outlet
Which Scanstrut outlet suits a given point on the boat depends on what is actually being charged there. A ROKK wireless pad only works with a Qi-enabled phone or case and needs a stable, mostly flat surface, so it suits a chart table or cockpit console better than somewhere the phone might slide. USB-C PD outlets handle higher-draw devices such as tablets and some laptops that a basic USB-A socket will not charge properly, while a 12V socket remains the simplest option for accessories that already come with a cigarette-style plug. AC outlets only make sense where the boat has an inverter or shore power feeding 230V, and should not be wired as if they were a DC circuit.
Every outlet still needs a dedicated, correctly fused feed back to the DC or AC distribution board rather than a tap off an existing circuit, and each has its own panel cutout size, so check the fitting dimensions before cutting the helm or cockpit moulding. The TILE series lets several outlet types share a single mounting plate if you want to standardise the cutout across multiple fitting points.
