Shore Power
Shore power inlets, cordsets, couplers, splitters and cable from SmartPlug and Ratio Electric: everything needed for a safe, reliable AC connection at the berth.
Matching inlet, cordset and cable
The inlet, cordset and any cable run all need to be rated for the same current, usually 16A or 32A on larger boats, and mismatching them, such as fitting a 32A inlet with a 16A cordset, leaves the weakest link as the effective limit and risks it running hot under load. SmartPlug connectors use a flat, keyed design rather than the traditional twist lock, so check which style your marina pedestal and existing inlet use before ordering a replacement cordset, as the two are not interchangeable without an adaptor.
An ELCI or RCD upstream of the shore power system is worth confirming is in place, since it protects against leakage current where a boat sits in water rather than on dry ground. Keep the AC cable run as short and chafe-free as practical, and support it so the inlet's terminals do not take the weight of the cordset hanging from it.
