Matching accessories to your display

Not every bracket or cover fits every unit, even within one brand's range. Screen size, bezel shape and mounting hole pattern all vary between model generations, so check the exact model number on your chartplotter or GPS before ordering a sun cover or replacement mount rather than going by screen size alone. Suncovers in particular are moulded to a specific unit and won't stretch to fit a near neighbour.

For mounting, decide first whether you need a fixed bracket, a ball and socket arm, or a flush pod, since that choice affects what cabling and gland options you'll also need behind the helm. Stainless fixings are worth the extra cost over standard steel given how quickly ungalvanised hardware corrodes in a saltwater environment.

If you're fitting out a new helm station rather than replacing a single item, it's usually easier to plan the mount, gland and cable run together rather than buying each piece separately once problems appear.
