The Raymarine Axiom 2 9 is a 9 inch all-glass multifunction display running the LightHouse 4 operating system on a hexacore processor. It is a chart-only model, so there is no internal sonar and the full screen is given over to navigation, radar, video, engine data and digital switching. Gigabit RayNet Ethernet, NMEA 2000, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth let it sit at the centre of a networked Raymarine system. Supplied with pre-loaded LightHouse Northern Europe charts.

Description

The Axiom 2 9 is the middle display in Raymarine's latest Axiom range, built around a hexacore processor that boots faster and redraws charts noticeably more quickly than the Axiom+ generation it replaces. This is a chart-only model, so there is no internal sonar module and the whole screen is available for navigation, radar, thermal and IP video, engine data and digital switching.

The 9 inch IPS panel runs at 1280 x 720 with 1500 nits of brightness and a HydroTough oleophobic coating, so it stays readable in direct sun and sheds spray and fingerprints. LightHouse 4 opens up more than thirty apps alongside LightHouse Charts Gen 2, Navionics, C-MAP and Imray cartography, and the display can be trunnion, surface, flush or front mounted using the supplied and optional hardware.

Gigabit RayNet Ethernet ties the display into a wider Raymarine system of radars, cameras, sonar modules and further displays, while NMEA 2000, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth handle instruments, autopilots and wireless audio. Network an external sonar module if you want fishfinding, or step up to the Axiom 2 9 RV for a built-in RealVision 3D sounder.

This version ships with LightHouse Northern Europe charts pre-loaded, ready to navigate out of the box.

Does the Axiom 2 9 (E70722) have a built-in fishfinder?
No. E70722 is a chart-only model, so there is no internal sonar module and no 25-pin transducer connector on the rear. If you want a built-in sounder, choose the Axiom 2 9 RV (E70723), which adds RealVision 3D, SideVision, DownVision and conical CHIRP. Alternatively you can network an external Raymarine sonar module over RayNet.
Will the Axiom 2 9 fit the cut-out left by my old chartplotter?
Adaptor plates are available: A80526 suits an a9x cut-out and A80564 a C80 or E80 Classic cut-out, both reusing the existing fixing holes; A80525 suits a C70 Classic cut-out but needs new holes. Where the existing holes cannot be reused, a template is supplied with the plate.
Which charts and card readers does it support?
LightHouse Charts Gen 2 plus Navionics, C-MAP, Imray and S-63 encrypted charts. A MicroSDXC card slot is built in. The optional RCR-SDUSB accessory (A80440) connects to the USB Micro B port and adds a full size SD card slot and a USB-A socket, and the RCR-2 adds two MicroSDHC slots.
What software version does an Axiom 2 need?
Axiom 2 chartplotters require LightHouse 4 v4.11.103 as a minimum. Raymarine recommends updating to the latest LightHouse 4 release so that all features and connected Raymarine devices are fully supported.
How is the Axiom 2 9 powered and networked?
It runs from a 12 V dc nominal supply (8 V to 16 V dc range) and needs a 7 A inline fuse or thermal breaker. The supplied cable carries both power and a NMEA 2000 DeviceNet connection, and a DeviceNet to SeaTalk NG adaptor cable is included. A single gigabit RayNet port handles radar, cameras, sonar modules and additional displays.
