Matching Victron components to your system
With a range this size, the trick is working out which Victron products need to talk to each other rather than which one to buy first. A MultiPlus or Quattro inverter/charger usually sits at the centre of a system, wired to a Lynx distribution bus, with a Cerbo GX pulling everything together over VE.Bus and VE.Direct and pushing data out to NMEA 2000 for the chartplotter.
Battery chemistry drives a lot of the sizing decisions. Lithium packs need charge parameters and BMS communication that lead-acid systems do not, so check that MultiPlus and SmartSolar firmware and DVCC settings are configured for the battery type fitted, not just wired to it. Cable gauge and fusing between components also need working out from the actual current draw, not the inverter's continuous rating alone.
